Ever wondered why you've got no mates, Norm?

Pagey
I don't feel Cresswell is defensively sound enough for international football just yet.
As for Noble.
Just not good enough.
You can bring up all the cretins picked over the yrs of his standard...but that doesn't mean he should be entitled to a call up.
Just my opinion...
Good club man...but very limited player at top level

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
On form alone he should be a shoe in for the England squad. He offers so much and clearly has an eye for goal too.

While we're at it, the fact that Noble doesn't get a look in is a disgrace. I've never been his biggest fan but he's improved so much this season and he's so comfortable on the ball.

Cresswell should also be in the squad. It's quite ridiculous how none of them even appear to be close.

That equalising header was a majestic thing.
Love Antonio to bits as a player and person.
Still learning at this level..and it shows at times..but ill tell you what..this boy is gold dust

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
On skysports this morning they had a whoscored rated 23 man England squad. Fair to say antonio and noble are both included ahead of sterling and walcott.

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
The possiblilty of Rashford being picked was MOOTED after he had played 2 first team matches.
One of which was v Midgieland

Hodgsons right side options have included Welbeck (injured) , Walcott (virtually not played), Oxlade-Chamberlain (injured) & Sterling (hardly played and shit when he has).
Suspect he will force players like Vardy & Alli out of position to accommodate Rooney or use plodders like Milner.
Antonio would have been an interesting option but the manager is wedded to players who have done well against Liechtenstein and Andorra and seems oblivious to current form and the lift in performance that will be required in a tournament.
As was shown in Brazil.

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
Comma, How many times did Lingaard play before he got a call up? A whole lot less than Antonio has this season! It's acceptable to Woy to pick players who have barely got into the first team at their club. It's just not acceptable to pick players who play for West Ham.

Sven Roeder 8:53 Fri May 13
Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
We did not concede a goal while he was on the pitch until the 6th match in which he appeared & that was the penalty at Villa.
Swansea last Saturday was the first league match we have lost while he has been on the pitch for 90mins.

Comma, he may have only started playing 20 weeks ago, but i bet some of the squad will have hardly played in that same time.

His greatest asset, apart from his engine, is his unpredictability. Unfortunately It seems that his unpredictability is because he doesnt know what hes doing while he does it
-----------------------------------------

Completely disagree...I've seen every game...he's unpredictable to defenders...but he does know what he's doing...

Top man...and I hope will keep improving next season...

Tex
I always got the impression that Alf Ramsey was a bit of a power hungry tit.
England never win anything without 3 Hammers in the team.
Hodgson, and the country, NEED Cresswell, Noble, and either Carroll or Antonio.

Problem is Carroll will get sent off in every match
And Antonio,,,His greatest asset, apart from his engine, is his unpredictability. Unfortunately It seems that his unpredictability is because he doesnt know what hes doing while he does it
So: Cresswell, Noble, Carroll for England.

You know it makes sense.

On recent form he is better than Sterling and Walcott...

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
comma: Obviously, Antonio is far more impressive in competitive action than he was in training, otherwise he would have been in our team a lot sooner.

Hadgson has had the advantage of seeing him in competitive action, Bilic only saw him in training, until he picked him, and then Antonio fairly rapidly became a first team regular.

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
Antonio first came off the bench for the last ten minutes against WBA on 29th November. He next came on as sub at OT against Manu on the 5th of December. On December 12 he started against Stoke.

So now we are asking for international recognition for a player by Hodgson when his club manager, Bilic, did not trust him to start a PL game until a mere 20 or so weeks ago.

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
If Antonio has signed for any other club he would have 25 caps by now! :-)

The doddery, drooling, senile, piss-stained wanker that is England manager would never cap a West Ham player because all our players are better than the Scandinavian non league level that was his only success as a football manager. 35 years ago.

I was thinking the other day that if he was playing for a 'big' club he would be in with a shout but playing for us he has no chance unfortunately.

Re: Surprise addition to England squad: Antonio?
Of our England players Antonio when has played further up is the most in from player on the right . Certainly more than Lingard.
Noble is as in form as any other central midfielder.
Cresswell as good as Rose or Betrand.
Carroll, well there's know-one like him. I'm in 2 minds, although he gives England a better option than an out of sorts Walcott

Re: SUPRISE ADITION TO ENGLAND SQUAD: ANTONIO?
The emergence of Antonio has been one of the highlights of the season - outstanding player, and so versatile. I have a hunch he would do well as a central striker - he certainly knows where the goal is.

DukeofDevo 9:50 Thu May 12
Re: SUPRISE ADITION TO ENGLAND SQUAD: ANTONIO?
It shouldn't be a surprise he SHOULD be in the squad!

He's had a brilliant season since getting into the first 11, Billic rates him so much he was willing to leave him in at wing back rather than bring back either Tomkins or Byram.

Better than Olaxade, better than Walcott, now that Welbeck is out he's got to be in!

Unless of course WOY is a bit of a twat!

Re: SUPRISE ADITION TO ENGLAND SQUAD: ANTONIO?
I'd be disappointed if any of our players get picked for England or Payet for France they always look shit after tournaments so I hope they're on the beach this time next week.
